1. Privacy at a glance
- No account. You never register, and we never ask for your name to run a test.
- Results stay local. Your last 20 tests live in your browser’s localStorage only.
- No advertising trackers. No ad pixels, no fingerprinting scripts, no cross-site profiles.
- Random bytes only. The payloads transferred during a test are throwaway data, never your files.
- Your IP is shown, not stored. It is fetched only so it can be displayed to you on screen.
- One-click deletion. “Clear history” or clearing site data removes everything instantly.
2. Who we are

3. What information is processed
3.1 Measurement data (processed in your browser)
Download and upload throughput, peak and average values, ping minimum/maximum/median, jitter, latency standard deviation, probe loss, the quality score and confidence figure, the number of bytes transferred and the test duration. All of this is computed on your device from timing and byte counters — it is not sent to a Circuitbrowsly server.
3.2 Environment data (read from your browser)
Browser name and major version, operating system family, screen resolution and device pixel ratio, and — where your browser supports the Network Information API — connection type, effective type, RTT estimate, downlink estimate and Data Saver status. Where an API is unavailable we display “Unavailable in your browser” instead of guessing.
3.3 Network identity data (fetched for display)
Your public IPv4 and/or IPv6 address, ISP or autonomous-system organisation, approximate city/region/country and the edge location that served the test. This is retrieved from third-party lookup services purely so the dashboard can show it to you, and is written only to your local history if you keep the result.
3.4 Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard, short-lived technical logs (IP address, timestamp, requested path, user-agent, response status) needed to serve the page securely and detect abuse. These logs are not combined with your test results and are not used to build a profile.
4. Data kept in your browser
Two keys are written to localStorage on the domain circuitbrowsly.lat:

These entries never leave your device automatically. You can delete them at any time with the Clear history button on the home page, or by clearing site data in your browser settings.
5. Third-party endpoints we contact
Real measurement requires real network destinations. During a test your browser connects directly to the services below, which will therefore see your IP address and request metadata under their own privacy policies:
- Cloudflare speed endpoints — download/upload payloads, latency probes and edge metadata.
- HTTPBin — fallback endpoint when the primary edge is blocked.
- Google and Microsoft connectivity probes — latency only, when you select them manually.
- ipify and ipapi — IP address, ISP and approximate location lookup for display.
- Google Fonts, jsDelivr and the Tailwind CDN — typography, charting library and utility styles.
- Your custom endpoint — only if you enter one yourself.
If a network blocks any of these services, Circuitbrowsly falls back gracefully and tells you which capability was lost rather than substituting an invented value.
6. Contact and enterprise enquiries
If you submit the enterprise contact form or email us, we process the name, email address, subject and message you provide in order to answer you. That correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request and any resulting business relationship, and it is never used for unrelated marketing.
7. What we never do
- We do not sell, rent or share personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
- We do not upload your test history, files or browsing activity.
- We do not run behavioural advertising or cross-site tracking pixels.
- We do not attempt device fingerprinting beyond the environment fields shown on screen.
- We do not require or store payment details for the free speed test.
8. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
- Legitimate interests — delivering the diagnostic you requested, keeping the Service secure and preventing abuse.
- Consent — optional performance analytics and anonymous benchmark sharing, which are off unless you enable them and can be withdrawn at any time via cookie preferences.
- Contract — providing enterprise API or monitoring services under an agreement with you.
- Legal obligation — retaining limited records where law requires it.
9. Retention
Test results: kept on your device until you delete them (maximum of 20 entries; the oldest is dropped automatically). Consent record: until changed or cleared. Server security logs: a short rolling window, typically no more than 30 days. Support correspondence: for the life of the enquiry plus any period required for legal or accounting purposes.
10. Security
The site is served exclusively over HTTPS with modern TLS. Measurement payloads are random, non-reversible bytes. The application is static, requires no login and holds no central result database, which removes the most common breach targets. No system is perfectly secure, so please report any suspected vulnerability to [email protected].
11. International transfers
Circuitbrowsly is operated from the United States, and the measurement endpoints listed above are global anycast networks, so a request may be served from a point of presence in your region or another country. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the relevant provider.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because your results are stored locally, you can exercise access and erasure instantly yourself:
- Access / portability: use Export JSON, Export CSV or Export history CSV on the home page.
- Erasure: use Clear history, or clear site data for circuitbrowsly.lat in your browser.
- Consent withdrawal: open cookie preferences and save a new choice.
For anything else — including requests under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or similar laws — email [email protected]. We respond within 30 days and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right. EEA and UK residents may also complain to their local supervisory authority.
13. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided personal data through our contact form, contact us and we will delete it.
14. Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever our processing changes, and the “Last updated” date will always reflect the current version. Significant changes will be announced on the home page and, where consent is required, we will ask again.
